The painted sky: Stacked Photographs by Matt Molloy

I had to do a double take when I first saw these striking photos by photographer Matt Molloy who is based just outside of Toronto. I couldn't tell exactly what they were - photographs? paintings? I couldn't quite tell. Matt lives close to Lake Ontario and has taken a multitude of images over the years of its striking skies and sunsets. He decided to take these images to a new level by experimenting with time lapse photography then digitally stacking the images together to create the smeared, brush-stroke effect.
