While the trip to Italy allowed me to indulge my more maximalist side, more often than not these days I find myself craving something a lot more understated. Far from the indulgent embellishments and ornate details is natural, minimal style of former stylist and model Tiina Laakkonen. The Finnish native's beautiful home in Amagansett, NY was designed by Bagchee Architects to look as though two original barns and a contemporary one had been connected by steel and glass walkways. The space is bright, airy and completely filled with light from the large picture windows. Tiina's Scandinavian heritage is very evident throughout the home. All white, light concrete and soft blue painted wood floors, with natural wood features and just one accent colour - indigo blue - used throughout. The whole space has a natural flow and a very liveable feeling.
The patterned indigo ottomans are from Christina Kim's line Dosa, the George Sherlock sofas are covered in a "jolly, quirky" patchwork of Marimekko prints.
(Spot the shadowy coloured cat perched on a chair).
Tiina's eponymous named store Tiina - The Store also carries the same aesthetic and colour scheme. With beautifully curated finds like handmade Ancient Greek sandals and indigo Marimekko textiles.
