A soft, all white loft

If there's one thing I can never resist it's a beautiful all white space done right. This one is soothing and welcoming and flooded with natural light and a multitude of textures in soft tones. The Vancouver loft is the home of fashion stylist and blogger Kate Horsman (who writes Bullet with Butterfly Wings). She re-imagined this space from a very different "Italian villa" feeling that the previous owner had tried to create.

The condo boasts a huge patio off the main living space and boats a beautiful view of the harbour. Kate says, "The whole idea of sun and surf, of incorporating natural elements, plays a huge role in how I am in my space. I wanted it to feel calm and laid-back, like a vacation home."

The large floating capiz was a favourite piece of mine, it adds a soft glamorous, yet natural touch. Kate was able to help with the design of her reclaimed wood dining table which was made by a friend.

The large bookshelves that wrap around the archway into the living room house Kate growing personal library. Cool feature: the bottom units of these shelves slide out to reveal an extra hidden storage space.

Kate painted her antique piano white to suit the space. The calendar on the piano features different musicians and lyrics each month.

Kate describes her own style as mostly clean with a rock 'n' roll edge. This space seems to communicate that perfectly. In her bedroom a neon light reading 'Stairway to Heaven' acts as a focal point above the bed, "I love the bold blue light in that white room", says Kate.  It is inspired by an installation by British artist Tracey Emin, and acts as a tribute to one of her favourite bands.

See more of Kate's space and watch a video tour of the loft here.

I love everything about this place! So glam but love the rustic touches.

So glad you loved it too! I always gravitate towards 'all white done right' and really loved how this one blended natural + sophisticated styles.
