Tea for two + a mini Valentine's project ♥

Romance isn't really about lavish gifts or grand gestures, it's about thoughtfulness. It's about gratitude. Just taking a moment to do something considerate or remind someone (and maybe even yourself) how much they mean to you and that you appreciate them.

While I've never really dwelled on special occasions (I tend to prefer little everyday surprises...) there's something fun about getting into the spirit of a holiday and capturing the magic of the message behind it. Putting that extra effort into little gestures has a surprising way of getting you into the spirit and even the biggest skeptics will surprise themselves by how exciting it is to plan a little surprise for someone special.

It's always tea time at our house so I loved this little crafty project - a simple cutout heart with a special message, attached to the tag or maybe floating in your cup?

While I'm not an egg person (wish I could be, just not), one way I try to be thoughtful is by making them for my husband who just loves them. I really loved this easy little project from InStyle this month- a heart shaped cookie cutter, a slice of bread, an egg and you're set.
Just melt 1 tbsp of butter in a pan. Place bread with heart cut out inside. Crack egg into centre of the heart. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2 -3 minutes or until egg has set on the bottom.
Serve with love (and preferably in bed!)

So take a moment over these next few days to appreciate the people who make your life wonderful - a partner, sibling, parent, co-worker and of course, your best friend and let them know! It'll warm your heart in the chilliest of Februarys.

Beautiful thoughts. It really is about the everyday things we do to let people know we appreciate them. Being thoughtful is often too rare, so when it happens it thoroughly makes someone's day, at least it does mine.
Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

I completely agree! My David and I never buy each other gifts on VDay or our Anniversary -- we like to do things for each other, or just appreciate being together. It's about the simple things + the everyday little things :)

I hope your day is wonderful, xo

love this little heart egg in a frame ~ it is a spin on the traditional "egg in a frame" which my grandma taught me as a little girl ~

Thanks for reminding us too of what romance is all about ~ couldn't agree with you more ~

My sister bought a heart shaped pancake pan from the Dollarama that made these wonderful Valentines pancakes, this is such a great idea for those of us without such handy utensils! Thanks!

BC - always so nice to have you pop by!

Carol + CGC - completely agree, it's the little things that matter most!

S + S - heart shaped pancakes sound adorable. I think I'd prefer this too, as I'm not a big egg fan - Dollarama is the best, they have everything!
