A charming country Christmas in Ontario

A few years ago I'd stumbled into Alison Westlake's charming florist shop, Coriander Girl in the Parkdale neighbourhood of Toronto. It had a quaint, rustic vibe filled and was filled with her simple floral creations - which looked like they had been casually created on a walk through a particularly beautiful country garden, mixed with a small collection of antiques. I was immediately charmed by not only the shop but by Alison herself. I was delighted a while back, to stumble upon her (now former) home in rural Ontario in a converted old church. Bright, open and airy - the architecture of the space is a stunning backdrop for the simple decor featuring lots of vintage and antique pieces. The vibe is laid back and a little quirky with lots of country charm - the same feeling as her shop. She previously lived there with her husband and pet bunny Harry Hogan. In this feature of her home in Chatelaine magazine, the space is decorated with Christmas with just a few understated pieces - evergreen wreaths, bits greenery in every room (as one would expect from a florist) and knit stockings hanging from the mantle.

For a further look inside Alison's charming world (I think that's the sixth time I used the word charming in this post - but it definitely applies here! ;) ), her beautiful floral creations and new shop and home in Picton, Ontario - be sure to follow her on Instagram or visit the Coriander Girl shops in Parkdale, Toronto and Picton.
