This space has been rather unattended to over the past few weeks as life took over and hit full throttle as I rushed to finish up work and prepare for the arrival of our little one. Spring is such a beautiful time for new beginnings and although I felt a little frantic at times, I had to pause and really appreciate the beauty all around at this time of year. The magnolias on our street were especially lovely.

A very special baby shower was thrown for me at DT Bistro here in Toronto - a lovely high tea celebrating the upcoming arrival of our little girl with close friends. The setting was so perfect for Spring - look at their gorgeous floral installation overhead. Perfectly mirrored what was happening outdoors at the time and was so beautiful against their otherwise fairly subdued decor in carrera marble soft grey herringbone wallpaper. (I highly recommend it if you're looking for a fun afternoon outing - their high tea and dessert menu is incredible!)

It felt like there were a million things to do to prepare for my maternity leave from my full time job at Pavilion - it felt a little bittersweet at times as I realized I'd really miss spending my days in this beautiful space. We had some lovely new spring arrivals in the Showroom, including these lilac shibori pillows. Lilac will always be one of my all time favourite colours and I fell in love with these pieces in graphic shibori. I liked mixing them in with soft grey and silver tones.

In addition to this, I was finishing up a very exciting design project that I hope to share very soon. There were a lot of different elements to the space, custom built ins and furniture, but one of my favourite things to source is always the textiles. The carpet wall at Elte is the stuff of textile fantasies - almost too many beautiful things to pick just one. This section of greys and blues is always my favourite.

In addition to this project I was busy working on an important design project at home - our nursery. Here is a sneak peak of the space when it was close to completion (more to come on this later!)

One of my favourite pieces of the room is definitely our Eames lounge chair - lately I've been spending quite a bit of time here, feeding and cuddling, and sometimes just escaping here  to put my feet up and get a moment to myself. I've made a point of trying to keep a little vase with flowers on the table, even if they're just a few snips from the garden, to make the space a little more inviting - even in the middle of the night.

Thanks to a delivery from my mum's garden, I was able to enjoy peonies in every room of the house for a couple weeks (and avert my urge to steal them from my neighbour's garden). It was wonderful! Such a perfect time of year to welcome a baby girl.

Best of all, our little girl, Naomi Isabella arrived, right on time, just four weeks ago and is just the sweetest thing! Suddenly all the cliches are too true with your heart growing a few sizes and time flying by faster than ever. I've been taking a bit of time to soak up this special time and these early days with her.

Hope your summer's off to a fantastic start wherever you are!

Thank you Tiffany! The lounge chair is definitely a favourite piece in the room - wish I had that floral installation on the ceiling in the nursery to enjoy as well :)
