Black, white and wood

One week from today, I'll be heading off to Harare, Zimbabwe - the city I consider my home town and from which I've been separated for a decade. I'm starting to get really excited about the trip, and the prospect of becoming reacquainted with old, familiar places, faces, tastes and even smells, and discovering some of the new changes.

This room has been on my mind for quite some time now. Black, white and wood. Strong, dramatic but very simple. This space is full of contrasts - black and white, sleek modern and ornate traditional architecture. Something about the simple styling, the natural tones and the floods of light reminds me of Africa. I can't wait to see what I'll discover there.

I would never have looked at wood as a 'color' but now I have and it is great with black and white! Another thing that I wouldn't have thought to be great with wood is transparent plastic but these ghost chairs made me think otherwise.
