This year, Dior's Autumn/Winter 2012 show could easily have been described as a spectacular and a visually stunning event, even before a single model even hit the catwalk. Inspired with a vision that paid homage to Christian Dior's "Flower woman" and his enduring love for flowers and nature, Dior's new creative director, Raf Simons, set about to create a spectacular visual display by decorating the five grand rooms of a French mansion with one million flowers. Adorning the walls and even the ceilings, the rooms were covered in a solid tapestry of beautiful blooms including blue and white orchids, pink peonies, soft carnations and every colour of fragrant rose imaginable. Simons said the display was "a metaphor for the collection as a whole . I wanted it to be linked to the codes of Dior - but to make it dynamic, modern, energetic."
