I was instantly drawn to the images in this post of French interior designer Sarah Lavoine's home featured in Marie Claire Maison - strikingly simple in black, white and grey. I instantly fell in love with her easy, je ne sais quoi French sensibility. Elegant pieces like the Venetian blown glass against the large mirror and orchids on the mantle contrast the low slung sofas, floor pillows and rustic table designed by Sarah herself. The look is effortlessly sophisticated and has that same quality so many Parisian girls possess - that they just stumbled out of bed and threw something fabulous together.
On Sarah's own site, I found a link to a recent article in Milk magazine with photos of her new apartment. I love how playfully she's combined classic architectural details with over sized cartoon caricatures and relaxed low slung furniture. Kid friendly and injected with a healthy dose of fun, but still that unmistakable French 'cool'.
