A natural harmony: Kilindi

A rather late start to the week, after a frenzied working weekend and a new fitness routine that has me longing for another weekend to recover. Would love to escape to this stunning and tranquil retreat in Zanzibar, somewhere I've always wanted to go. Kilindi has described itself as a 'fifteen unit piece of functional art along a picturesque.. stretch of Northern Zanzibar'. The spaces appears to be designed as a clear homage to both the natural beauty that surrounds it as well as the areas traditional Swahili style. I love when architecture and design can serve to enhance its natural environment rather than distract from it. With environmentally conscious design and practices, it ensures that it achieves this very goal.
In Swahili, kilindi means deep water, no doubt after a stay here you'd emerge feeling deeply refreshed.

Yes Diana - would love to have you along :)

The fitness routine - oh my gosh it's grueling - a mix of all kinds of cardio and yoga but also involves getting up at 6 am to start. I'm not sure how my husband talked me into this one...
