New space inspiration: White + Silver

We're moving into a lovely new apartment at the end of the month and I'm getting so excited! The prospect of jumping into Spring with a fresh new space has the little hamster wheels in my head just spinning with all kinds of new ideas for decorating. While I love some of the architectural features of the space we're currently in, we've always had in mind that it's a very temporary space and haven't really done too much to make it ours and really put our stamp on it. I'm really looking forward to being creative and step by step, carving out a home that we love to be in.

While there are so many beautiful colour combinations to explore, I've become quite attached to the combination of white and silvery greys - a soft soothing palette to create an inspiring and relaxing retreat. Happily, I'm already half way there - already a staunch devotee to all white decor - sofas, bedding, dinnerware and several accessories in silvers and pewters, all that's needed is to expand this theme.

So simple and quite inexpensive to achieve this chic look - keep with crisp all whites, blend in aluminium and stainless steel for the kitchen, and soft greys in the bathroom and bedroom. Lots of fun ideas including a grey cowhide and more, can't wait to share the progress as I go along!

Wouldn't cleaning be a little tedious though in the long run? I do love the purity of the overall look though. All the best with space-filling! :D

Thank you all for the luck!
{Maybe even some Irish luck among you ;)}

Rachel - heading over now...

mello- ah yes, often a concern - although I've had all white sofas for quite some time now and don't have much trouble. I figure, I'd rather see the dirt so I can clean it!

Congratulations on the upcoming move! I would have to agree. This color combination is beautiful, calm and classic.

Oh, I do love the clean feeling of all the white, very serene.

But I might go crazy without some color, maybe one room for the crispness... or maybe one room for teh color. Who knows. I live in a studio apartment right now...so only one room to work with, haha.

I have been gradually trying to make my apartment more "pretty" it isn't easy on a budget! If you wanted to check it out, I wrote a blog about a few of my interior decorating "crafts".

Congrats on the move! I hope you share some of your decorating ideas!

Gorgeous! I thought you were going to say this was your new apartment. In which case I would have been crazy jealous :) but still very happy for you!

You have my support! Anything gray/silver makes me purr!

Sharalee, I found a mirror (as your image 3) at a consignment store in Seattle for $29!!! It is almost identical but in gold. I am going to paint it white!

Wish you lived closer so I could tag along on all your shopping sprees for your new home!
