Oscar Night

Without fail, I always watch the Oscars every year – the glamour, the excitement, the dresses (!) and of course, the films - a celebration on the grandest scale. I love the idea of making little special occasions fun, it helps us to cherish the small moments in life and brings a sense of excitement to the monotony of everyday life. I've been thinking how fun it be to have an Oscar party with a few friends.

I was inspired by Penelope Cruz's 1950s Balmain gown, romantic confectionery perfection - a classic 'Cinderella' dress if ever were one!

I thought this beautiful table setting would set the tone for a fun and fancy evening. I'm always so drawn to the combination of pale pink and rich gold – glamorous yet still understated. A simple sheet of fancy wrapping paper would make an instantly impactful table top. Everything else is kept simple white dinnerware, classic cutlery and clear crystal – always timeless and elegant.

Of course, the perfect way to start off the evening is with a toast with something pink and sparkling. Try Veuve Cliquot Rose or Lorina's pink sparkling lemonade.

Keep the movie night theme with popcorn to snack on – or make a few bowls and flavour each with custom seasonings.

Treat everyone to something rich and delicious with coconut cream sandwiches or a similar individual ice cream treat. Way better than the concession stand!

One of the things I miss most from childhood parties was the fun little loot bags you'd leave with, filled with fun little trinkets and toys and yummy little treats. It'd fun to bring back this old tradition and leave everyone with a small favour to enjoy. A boxed popcorn ball would be the perfect movie-themed treat, perfect to enjoy at home while watching some of the winning films afterwards.

oh my goodness! wish had more time for blog reading, but as it is, haven't a chance for a few weeks and only a quick moment now and see we're on the same wavelength this week -- how fun! only you've taken it further -- and so beautifully -- by adding all the perfect things for an oscar night party, especially the veuve; also lovely to see penelope cruz's beautiful balmain gown again and wishing you a fun oscar night!
